The department was originally housed in the "Astradome", a fabric tent.
The current fire station was completed in June of 1983 and is located at 325 Iles Way (formerly Founders Street).
The first fire apparatus to serve the fire department was Squad 1, a 1982 Chevrolet Anderson Mini Pumper. Squad 1 served as a pumper and rescue truck until the arrival of Engine 2.
Engine 2, a Anderson Class "A" pumper, arrived on August 30, 1983.
In May of 1986, an order was placed for a 100' aerial apparatus, and there was a need to expand the fire station. The construction of a third apparatus bay was started in September of 1986.
On November 30, 1987, Ladder 3, a Thibault 100' ladder truck arrived. Ladder 3 greatly increased the fire department's capabilities, and increased both firefighter and citizen safety.
Rescue 4 was placed in service in December of 1997. Rescue 4 was outfitted with additional medical supplies, hyraulic rescue equipment, ropes, and harnesses that had previously been on Squad 1.
As Engine 2 was nearing the end of it's 20 year service to the fire department, an order was placed for Engine 5. Engine 5, an American LaFrance Eagle Metropolitan Triple Combination Pumper, arrived in October of 2003.
Rescue 6 arrived in April of 2010. This apparatus is equipped with an onboard generator, air compressor, and fire pump; equipment that the previous rescue truck lacked.
October 18, 2012 the TRFD took delivery of a new command vehicle, a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD. Command Car is first on scene for all in-town emergencies and responds to most out of town emergencies.
In January of 2017, the TRFD took possession of Ladder 7, a 100 ft rear mount Aerial, built to replace the aged 1987 Ladder 3.
